You can choose to serve part time in the army reserve or full time on active service and the web site explains the difference between the two. If you apply online then you are directed to use the army careers explorer. This will give you all the information you need to begin the recruitment process into the American army. The site gives quite detailed information relating to the moment you apply right on to where you are sworn into the US military.
Military recruitment is an ongoing process for both the American and the British armies because of their current overseas involvement. When visitors to the American army website choose to use the army careers explorer they are given all the information that they need and then have to submit documentation. Once they have submitted this information then the would be army recruit is contacted by a military recruitment officer. The military recruitment officer will want to verify the information that you have supplied. The officer that is assigned to you will also want to ascertain your level of qualifications to see if you are suited to a career in the American army. He/she will also be able to answer any questions you might have regarding army life. Either the military recruitment officer will visit you in your own home to continue the application process – if you prefer this part of the process can be done over the telephone.
The military recruitment officer will be like your personal guide to the army. Anything that you want to know either concerning the application process or anything else to do with army life you can find out from this officer. The recruitment officer will be able to tell you how long you can expect to stay in the army. You can also find out whether you can take a college degree while in the army and if you can take your family with you when you are posted out of state or abroad. You can contact one online or you can find a recruiter in your area. Once you have completed the application process you will then be referred for an aptitude test. This is where you will answer multi-choice questions so that the military can assess what role you will be best suited for.
Once you have gone through all these processes then you will be assigned to the military entrance processing station. Here you will collect your kit, be assigned to a post and sworn into the army.
